programs
The California Society of Printmakers engages in a number of programs and projects. Over our 100 plus year history these have included: Artist’s Residencies; Commissioned Prints; Educational Outreach Events; Exchange Portfolios; Publications in the form of newsletters, journals and a Centennial Book; and a wide variety of Special Events such as workshops, demos, print chat get-togethers and visits to print collections.
Community Printmaking Demos at the Davis Arts Center
CSP was pleased to inaugurate printing on the Davis Arts Center’s recently installed combination press with a series of demos and activities, organized in conjunction with the First Impressions exhibition (2020).
CSP members Chris Dewees, Betty Friedman, Kathryn Kain, Joanna Kidd, Susan Silvester, and Robert Simons gave demonstrations in intaglio, monotype, gyotaku, chine collé, relief, and screenprinting. Participants had the opportunity to make their own prints and gain a better understanding of many of the processes used to create works on view in the exhibition. The demonstrations were made possible in part by a grant from the City of Davis Arts and Cultural Affairs Program.
